Sweet Magnolias
Sweet magnolias is about three women who are calling themselves sweet magnolias. Dana Sue owns a restaurant, Helen is a lawyer and Maddie stays at home taking care of the kids. But now Maddie is getting divorced because her husband, Bill, left her for someone else. The three have always been dreaming of opening a spa and now it is time to realize those dreams.
Review
When I saw this series was coming to Netflix, I immediately knew that I wanted to see it. At first, I wasn’t so sure about this series though. Maybe it was just me but I got really bored during the first few episodes. I even decided to quit watching this series. But two weeks later, last week, I decided to give it a second chance. I was already in episode 5, so I just had a couple of episodes to go. And guess what? I really liked the last few episodes.
Maybe the first few episodes were just an introduction to the characters and that is why I got bored? I don’t know. But I am very happy that I gave it another chance. Because I loved it.
I think if you also liked the series Virgin River on Netflix, you will also like this one. Both series take place in a small town where people gossip. There is friendship, there is drama and there is romance.
So let’s talk about the characters. I think my favorite is Maddie or Helen. I thought Dana Sue was annoying at the beginning of the series. Of course, she was busy but she also forgot she has a child too. That is why I didn’t like her and I felt sorry for her daughter Annie.
The kids were great too. But then there is Bill Townsend and his new fiancé Noreen. And what a surprise to see Jamie Lynn Spears as Noreen. Bill was married to Maddie but then he cheated on her with Noreen. Noreen gets pregnant. (no spoilers, this is what you’ll learn in the first episode). But honestly, Bill’s accent was so weird and too much. It felt like he was trying too much to get his accent right. Hopefully, he will work on that for next season.
Do I think there will be another season? Nothing has been confirmed yet, but I think there will be another season of Sweet Magnolias. There was a huge cliffhanger. And I think we deserve the answers.
