Tips on how to deal with Holiday stress

It is almost Christmas time and that is the busiest time of the year for most of us. Preparing for Christmas dinner, Christmas parties, visiting family and buying Christmas gifts. So it is no surprise that holidays can also be very stressful. These are my tips on how to deal with Holiday stress.

We should have fun and enjoy this time of the year. We shouldn’t waste our precious time by worrying about Christmas gifts.

Tips on how to deal with Holiday stress

Make a planning

Step one is to make a planning. When you make a planning, you will see that your mind is less chaotic. And that is because you don’t have to worry if you forgot something or you have no idea what to do next.

Also, don’t do things like Christmas shopping last-minute. Start shopping at the beginning of December. Just to make sure that you can buy everything you need.

Meditate

Meditation really helps me to calm my mind and to relax. So one of my best tips is to meditate. Just sit down for 5 or 10 minutes and find a guided meditation on Youtube. There are a lot of meditations on YouTube for different purposes. For example, this one is for Stress relieve and anxiety.

Get moving

If you already exercise regularly, then you will know that exercise has a lot of benefits for our bodies and minds. Pick a sport that you really like and go at least once a week to the gym to feel better. You will see that you feel happier, stronger and more confident soon.

Also, if you are not really into sports. Try to walk for 20-30 minutes every single day. When you walk, your body will also release good chemicals like endorphins. And when it is raining or snowing, just wear some extra clothes to stay warm and/or dry. And make yourself a hot choco when you come home again.

Self-care day

When you are really feeling stressed and you don’t know what to do. Then it is really time to take a break. Cancel your plans and take a self-care day. You don’t want to celebrate Christmas when you are feeling burned out.
You don’t have to go to a spa, you can also take a hot bath. Or you can watch a movie on Netflix and read a book. Just do the things you really like.

Don’t be too hard on yourself

Christmas time should be fun not stressful. I see a lot of people, who are trying to make Christmas perfect. Guess what? It is never going to be perfect. So let it go.
You don’t have to throw the perfect Christmas party. You don’t have to bake a delicious pie or cake. If you don’t have enough time for that, just go to the supermarket and buy one.

Don’t put too much pressure on yourself.

Eat healthy

You are what you eat. Christmas is the time of the year that people eat a lot of food. When people talk about Christmas, 90% of the time it is about the food they are going to eat.

But let’s be honest, it isn’t always the healthiest food we eat for Christmas. So try to eat more veggies and fruit during this time of the year. Your body always needs vitamins and minerals to stay healthy and relaxed.
