How to beat the holiday stress

When I grew up as a kid, the holidays were so much fun. But when you grow older, you suddenly have a lot of things to do before the holidays. You have to buy gifts, decorate everything, Christmas shopping, make Christmas meals and so much more. So this time of the year can also very stressful.

How to beat the holiday stress

Plan everything

I know it is just the beginning of December, but I already made a list of things I have to do and things I have to buy. Especially shopping around the holidays can be a true nightmare. It is always so busy at the supermarket and sometimes something is out of stock. That is why great planning is so important. You can start buying some things for the Holidays already, like ice cream or canned soup. This way you make sure you have everything under control. Don’t do everything at the last minute.

Shop early

As I said, you should go shopping early and not just with food but also for your Christmas gifts. Don’t wait till the last day. Maybe the things you want to buy are out of stock because everyone else wanted to buy it too. So go shopping now! And if you can’t find it in the stores, then you still have time to find it online.

Say ‘no’ to things

You can’t do everything by yourself. So say ‘no’ to people and ask other people for their help. It is unfair if you have to do all of the Christmas gift shopping, make Christmas meals and bake a cake. This way, you will feel more relaxed because you have more time to do the things on your to-do list.

Meditate

This is maybe pretty random but when you are feeling stressed, stop and sit down for a minute. December (and every other month too) should be fun and relaxed. So take a little bit of time for yourself. Meditation is really great because it really lowers your stress levels and you will feel a lot better after meditation.

Have fun!

December should be a fun month and not a very stressful month. Take time for yourself and do something YOU like to do, just for fun. Do you like to read? Go read! Want to take a bath? Take a bath. You should never stop taking care of yourself. You still want to enjoy the most beautiful time of the year.
