We’ve all experienced having stress at some point in our lives. Short-term stress is not a bad thing, but when you experience stress for a longer period, it is time to relax a little bit. Stress can do harmful things to your body, so it is better to find a way to relax and maybe change your mindsets. You can try to reduce stress with these 35 tips.

My experience with stress

I’ve had a time in my life where I got a burn-out. The reason for that was I was putting a lot of pressure on myself. I had two jobs and was studying full-time. I was very focused on getting amazing grades and suddenly the stress was just too much for me. I think at that time I was really a perfectionist. It took a while before I changed a few things and started to relax. But now I know when to take a step back and just to relax.

Reduce stress with these 35 tips

1. Eat mindfully. Just enjoy eating the food you made for yourself
2. Clean everything up at the end of your (work)day. It feels better when you wake up in a clean house
3. Wake up a little bit earlier. So you can get the things done early
4. Go to bed earlier. Maybe you need more sleep, so sleep more and go to bed early
5. Leave your house early. So you don’t have the stress about traffic
6. Take a deep breath before you react. Don’t let your emotions your reaction
7. Start your day without your phone. Take time for yourself in the morning and just relax and start the day the right way
8. Start your day with meditation. Clear your head and relax
9. Stop being a control freak. You can’t control everything
10. Start with the task you HAVE TO do today. You can do the other things later
11. Be realistic when you make a to-do list. You can’t do everything in one day
12. Take one day for yourself every single week or month. You need to recharge yourself
13. Turn off all of your notifications. So nobody can disturb you
14. Stop reading the news (too much) and delete all news apps. No negativity for you
15. You don’t have to answer your messages immediately. You can wait a few hours before you answer it
16. Turn off your phone when you are busy and have to focus on your task. Focus is key when you want to get stuff done
17. Talk about your problems. Don’t keep it to yourself
18. Don’t multitask. Focus on one thing at the time
19. Write in your gratitude journal. It helps you to focus on the positive side
20. Exercise daily. When you exercise, your brain releases feel-good chemicals
21. Stop working at least two hours before bedtime. Empty your head.
22. Start reading before bedtime. The perfect way to fall asleep
23. Drink chamomile tea. Very calming
24. End the day by taking a hot bath and just relax. Add some lavender bath salt
25. Empty your mailbox. Empty mailbox = empty head
26. Realize it is just in your head. Sometimes you make it worse than it is
27. Do something fun every single day. You should also enjoy your life
28. Pack your bag the night before. No stress in the morning
29. Use the Pomodoro technique (and take breaks). Apparently, it helps for a lot of people to focus
30. Stop rushing everywhere and enjoy the moment. Just chill and live in the moment
31. Say no to things you don’t have the time for or if you don’t want to do it. Just do it
32. Make your to-do list the day before. Don’t do it before bedtime but in the afternoon.
33. Make time for your friends. Hanging out with friends is always a good idea
34. Play with your pet. They will love it and you will love it too
35. Eat healthily. Eating junk food all the time makes you feel bad in the end and you need the vitamins/minerals
