The Ex Talk

Shay Goldstein has always been a producer at Seattle public radio station but now everything is going to change. She got this amazing idea for the radio/podcast and now she has to host it with her newest colleague Dominic Yun, who is fresh off a journalism master’s program and he thinks he knows everything about the radio. They have to pretend they were exes for the show. And their fans love it and can feel the tension between the two.

Review

This story sounded really cute and that was the reason why I bought it. And yes, it was cute too. I really enjoyed reading this book a lot. I was actually hooked from the first minute and I couldn’t stop reading. I think I am a very lucky person because lately, I’ve read only great romance books. Not one disappointed me so far. I am really picking the right books.
I could really feel the tension between Dominic and Shay and I loved it. I am a huge fan of romance books and this one didn’t let me down. I have to admit that the sex parts are very detailed. I am okay with that. I don’t mind reading about it, But I wouldn’t recommend this book if you don’t like too much about sex.

This story was also relatable for me. They both don’t really have a lot of friends, they are working a lot and their love life is non-existing. That sounded very familiar to me. The author basically described my life. Shay gets too attached too easily and I think I am like that too. It felt like I was reading about my life (except the job part). But now I am waiting until my ‘Dominic’ comes around. At least, this book gave me hope that is never too late to find new friends and find a good-looking guy. Shay is even my age (29) and Dominic is only 24. Normally I wouldn’t even think about dating a younger guy, because some of them are still so childish. But maybe at this age, it doesn’t matter anymore. I think I am going to change my Tinder settings….

This was another easy read and I finished in just 2/3 evenings. This is the kind of book I like to read the most. Especially because my love life is non-existing right now. Loved the ending too. Not the part where they officially get together, but the part at the radio station. I don’t want to spoil too much, but it has something to do with their boss they don’t like.

This book is for everyone who likes romantic cute but complicated love stories. This might not be the book for you if you don’t like to read about sex too much. It is very detailed. So maybe this book is not for you then.
