How to keep that summer feeling alive?

If you are reading this, there might be a chance you just got back from your vacation and have to go back to work soon. During our vacations, we feel happy and energetic and obviously want to have that feeling every day, even when we have to go back to work. But how to keep that summer feeling alive? How do you keep that happy mindset? How can you have the best time when you have to go back to work?

How to keep that summer feeling alive?

Spend more time outside
On a workday, you might be sitting in your office all day long and when it is over you’re not in the mood to go outside. But that is exactly what you need to do. During the summer you spend more time outside and that makes you feel relaxed and happy. It has been proven that spending more time in nature can actually make you happier. So even when the weather gets cooler this autumn/winter, try to spend more time outside. On a beautiful autumn day, you can go for a long walk (bring your umbrella, just in case) and get a hot cup of cacao when you get home again. Or on a winter day, build a snowman or an igloo.

Plan something fun every day
On vacations, you are not working and instead of that, you’re doing something fun every day. It does not matter whether you were on a city trip or you hang around the pool all day. The point is, is that you did something you liked to do. And life should be like that every single day. If you have a 9 to 5 job, you still have enough time to do something fun. You still have the whole evening and weekends for your own hobbies. and when you plan something fun every single day, you always have something to look forward to.

Here are a few ideas you can do:
– Learn to play an instrument
– Follow a workshop
– Go out with friends
– Go to the cinema
– Make your favourite meals
– Go to the beach for a walk
– Play games with family and/or friends

Try new things
Other things people do on their days off, is they try new things. When you go to Greece for example, you try new dishes. Or maybe you learn more about their culture. Learning new things can be fun as long you are interested in them. You can try a new recipe once a week, skydive on the weekend or ride a hot air balloon. Everything is possible. And it does not have to be big or cost a lot of money. Even taking a different route to work or volunteering can change everything. The idea behind this is that you stop doing the same things every single day. If you follow the same routine every day, life can get boring. So switch things up every week.

Go to a new place on the weekends/ days off
Discovering new places is also one of the things you do on vacation, but that is also something you can do on the weekends or when you have a day off. Make a list of places you want to visit (it does not have to be far away) and pick a place every time you have time. Just being in a different environment is good for you. When everything is new for you, it feels exciting and that is exactly how you feel on your vacation.

Spend more time offline
I am not sure about you, but when I have days off I spend less time on my phone. I personally have a love/hate relationship with social media. I really like creating content and seeing what other people are doing. But when I spend too much time online, I start feeling bad and when I feel bad I spend more time on social media. On the weekends I spend less time online and do more fun things. It also feels like I have more hours in a day. There are a lot of benefits to spending time offline.

Spending less time online:
– Will give you more time to do other (fun) things
– is better for your mental health
– can make you happier
– will make you feel more alive.
