These days we spend a lot of time online. We have social media, we have streaming services and we talk to each other online. But there are a lot of benefits to spending more time offline. But what if you decide to go offline more often? Or what if you decide to have an offline weekend? What are you going to do with the extra time you suddenly have? You might want to prepare yourself before you go offline. You don’t want to go offline for the weekend and be bored non-stop. You need a list of activities, you might have to find a new hobby. But don’t worry, I got you! I have made a list of things you can do offline
Things you can do offline
Play (board) games. Invite your friends and asks them to turn off their phones and just have a fun board game night, including snacks obviously.
Read a book. Instead of watching a movie, you could a book (or two). There are tons of books and there is probably at least one book you will like. You just have to find out what kind of genre you like the most and you have to try books by different authors. I read romance and I don’t like every author that writes romance.
Dance for fun. Or just have a dance party on your own or with friends/family. Or you can go out to a club and dance all night long.
Find a sport you like. You finally have more time to find out what kind of sports you like to do. And you don’t always have to go to a gym. There are sports that you can do at home or outside. So it basically does not cost you extra money every month.
Go out for a walk/hike. Or maybe you find out you prefer a long walk. Which is still a great way to exercise every day. Walks are underrated in my opinion. And if it rains, you just can bring an umbrella or a raincoat.
Play with your pet. Spend some quality time with your pet and make your relationship even stronger.
Find a DIY on Pinterest and make it. Before you go offline, you can look on Pinterest for fun DIYs you can do.
Talk to your friends. Instead of talking to your friends online, you can also visit them and talk to them in real life.
Go shopping. Go to the mall and go shopping. And this is definitely something you can do by yourself.
Go thrift shopping. Or maybe if you want to be more sustainable, then you can go to a thrift store. Sometimes it is more fun at the thrift store than going to fast-fashion stores because you never know what you’re going to find.
Bake something. Make brownies or a whole pie. Call your friends and eat it together.
Try a new recipe. Or find a cookbook and try something new. Maybe you will make something that you will absolutely love.
Try Yoga. Feeling a little bit stressed? You can always try yoga and relax completely.
Meditate. Or when you have too many thoughts, you can also meditate and calm your mind.
Make a puzzle. Buy a 1000-piece puzzle or make a sudoku.
Write a poem. Write a poem for your crush, about life or just about this experience of spending time offline.
Write a story or book. Maybe you have an idea for a story/book. This is the time to write that story and maybe you can eventually publish it on Wattpad or send it to publishers.
Start a bullet journal. If you like to make lists or when you just started reading more books, you can start a bullet journal. Fill your bullet journal with little reviews about every book. Or make a bullet journal filled with your favourite memories.
Write in your journal about the things you are experiencing during this offline time. Maybe you notice you are feeling more relaxed. It is always a good idea to write down your thoughts. Sometimes you make something bigger in your head than it really is.
Grow veggies and fruit in your own garden. At first, it will be an investment, because you have to buy supplies and seeds. But in a few months, you can eat from your own garden. And trust me, food tastes better when it comes out of your own garden.
Clean out your closet. Dive into your closet and see if you are still wearing everything. If not, donate or sell it. Make space for something new.
Clean your whole room/house. Since you have a lot more time, you can deep clean your room or house. You will feel good about yourself and having a clean house feels amazing.
Learn a new language. Buy books and start learning a different language. Maybe you’ve always wanted to learn Italian or German.
Learn to play an instrument. You can try a new instrument. You can do this by yourself or you can find something who can teach you.
