Do you feel stuck in life at the moment? Are you in a rut? Or maybe life is not going as planned. Then you are probably feeling that everything is going wrong and you find it hard to see the positive things. But I can promise that there is always something good in every single situation. No matter how difficult life is.

Note: Even though I am talking about how you should focus more on the positive things in life. I am not saying that you should be positive all the time. That is (almost) impossible. You can be sad because something bad happened. But you shouldn’t stay in it for too long.

Glass half full

In my life, I met different kinds of people. Some people were positive and their glass was always half full. While others their glasses were half empty. And the people with their glasses half full inspire me. Because ‘bad’ things happen to all of us. We all lose people in our lives and experience hard times. But the difference between the two kinds of people is how they react to it. For example, you are stuck in life and you are not where you want to be in life. You don’t like your job and you are constantly complaining about it. But instead of focusing on the negative things and complaining about it, you can also think about the good things about this job. There must be something you like about it, it can be a very small thing.

Or maybe you are not feeling great. During those times, it feels like everything is going wrong in your life. But even during those times, there is something to be grateful for. Maybe you got the motivation to get out of bed, maybe you had a really nice cup of tea or maybe you are just grateful because the sun is shining.

And in the beginning, you have to help your brain to focus on the positive things but eventually, it will get easier. It is like building muscles in the gym.

Hard times

You can experience small setbacks in life but you can also experience hard times. Maybe you lost someone that you love. Or you got a burn-out. Those times are even harder and it makes it harder to focus on the positive things. And I totally get it. It is not easy to focus on the good things when someone passed away. I lost several people in my life and I was sad too. And it is good to grieve. You don’t have to hide your emotions. That is not healthy. But after a while try focusing on the better things. Maybe you can be grateful that someone is not in pain anymore. Maybe you are grateful you got a burn-out because you now have the time to figure out what you really want.

Become more positive

For a while I am writing down the things I am grateful for. Sometimes I am grateful for 5 things and sometimes just one. And everything is okay. It is just a nice practice to focus on the good things in life. I can definitely recommend this to everyone. I mean you should enjoy life. Stop focusing on the negative things because those things are not going to help you to get better and stronger.
