The Cosy Teashop in the Castle

Ellie Hall got dumped and she hates her job. One night she applied for a job at a teashop in a castle. They invited her for an interview, which she didn’t expect at all. During her first and second interviews, she might have told a few lies to get this opportunity. She has absolutely no idea how to run a teashop and she is definitely not qualified for it. But she has always wanted this and is willing to do anything.
Running a teashop is definitely not easy. Ellie now has to worry about earning enough money so could pay her lease and her waitresses every single month. She also decided that she would swear off men, but it does not help that Joe also works and lives in the same castle.

Review

A while ago I went to the local thrift store and to my surprise there were actually a few good English books. One of those books was this one and it looked cute and just a perfect read for a cosy reading day. So, of course, I bought it. I had never heard of the book before or the author. I had no idea what to expect and whether this was going to be good or not.

To be honest, I have mixed feelings about this book. Yes, it turned out it was a cute love story. Ellie got dumped and is hating her office job, then she gets the opportunity of a lifetime. It has been always her dream to have her own shop where she could make and sell her own cakes. In general, this story was just perfect. I read it on a rainy Saturday and it was just great! It made me feel cosy.

However, there is one thing that was kind of weird. At first, I thought I was imagining it, but I wasn’t. But the author was repeating herself. I have at least two examples. One moment Ellie and Joe are in the teashop and they are just talking Ellie asks Joe how long he has been living in the castle and after a few chapters, she asked again. Another moment Joe mentioned to Ellie that Lord Henry’s wife died and a few chapters later again she asks the same thing again. I was kind of waiting till they found out Ellie has memory problems or anything but I think the author made a little mistake. This can happen, but I am surprised (not even an editor) found this mistake.

Another thing I noticed and this isn’t something bad or anything. Just something I noticed. But they always say that women are complicated, but damn Joe was complicated too. One moment he was kissing Ellie and a moment later he disappeared or he was acting grumpy. He knew her dating history, so why he was doing this is still a mystery to me.

Overall, the story was pretty good except for asking the same questions part. But if you just ignore that, it was really a cosy read. This book is perfect for a lazy rainy day. Nothing exceptional, but just good. And this book gets a bonus point for adding the recipe for the Choffee Cake. Definitely, something I would like to try because it sounds delicious.
