The Christmas Chronicles part 2
The same people are back in the second movie of The Christmas Chronicles. Kate has to celebrate Christmas this year on a beach. Not what she expected. Because Kate really prefers a cold Christmas with a lot of snow. And besides that, her mom brought her new boyfriend Bob and his son Jack. Kate doesn’t want to hang out and celebrate Christmas with them, so she decides to run away.
Review
Two years ago, the first movie of The Christmas Chronicles came out. It was about Kate Pierce and her brother Teddy. They had to spend Christmas Eve together because their mom had to work and their dad passed away recently. On the same evening, they meet Santa Claus.
Now Kate wants to run away and she asks for the help of Santa Claus. But instead, Santa is helping her, ex-elf Belsnickel is helping her. Although he just wants to use her because he wants to enter the north pole. And he can’t do that without her help. Belsnickel turned into a human being a few years ago because he broke the elf-code. Now he wants to ruin Christmas for everyone. He wants to turn all the elves into evil elves.
Of course, you are going to compare this movie to the first one. I read a lot of reviews saying this one is a lot worse than the first one. I don’t see it like that. I have a different opinion. In the first movie, Santa Claus was in jail and suddenly he started singing. That part was pretty cringey. I was hoping the second movie would be without a singing Santa, but I was wrong. He put up a whole show at the airport.
And Teddy doesn’t play a big role in this movie. It is mostly about Kate and Jack. But I like them. I honestly don’t know if this movie is worse or better than the first one. So I think it is just as good as the first movie. A lot of things are going on in this movie because Belsnickel wants to ruin Christmas.
I really like Kurt Russell as a Santa Claus and Goldie Hawn was an amazing Mrs. Santa. I think this movie is just perfect to watch with the whole family during the Holidays. Definitely a recommendation (if you watched the first movie).
