The Prom

Emma really wants to go to her prom, together with her girlfriend. Only the PTA of the school wants to allow straight couples. At first, they cancel the prom, but with the help of a few broadway stars, the prom goes on. But maybe not the way they expected.

Review

I was really looking forward to this movie. There are musicals that I really like and there are musicals I don’t like. But I was so impressed with the cast. Those are not just famous names, they are big stars. So I really had high expectations.

But wow, what a movie! I cried several times, maybe because of the hormones maybe not, but this was so beautiful. I honestly have no idea where to start. First, the cast didn’t dissapoint me at all. This is exactly what I expected. And James Corden might be the ‘weakest’ actor but his performance is still a lot better than ‘into the woods’. The negative reviews are mostly about him. But he wasn’t that bad in my opinion. I liked his role.

I think the message is beautiful too. We should accept each other. ‘Love thy neighbor’ is also really one of the songs that really stood out. But I think that most of the songs were great and catchy. I had a really great time watching this movie. It isn’t as good as ‘the Greatest showman’ but maybe I have to listen to these songs a few more times but I can say anything about that. I think the songs were great.

This movie was even better than I expected. This movie made me cry and smile. This movie touched me and that is a good thing. Probably one of the best and fun movies I’ve seen in 2020. Really a recommendation.
