Red Notice
Nolan Booth is one of the most-wanted criminals and Interpol has him on their radar because John Hartley (Dwayne Johnson) has heard from the Bishop he is going to steal the three golden eggs that are worth millions of dollars. But soon, Interpol thinks John Hartley is a part of it and don’t trust him anymore and he gets arrested too. Together they escape from prison to find the rest of the golden eggs. But they are not the only ones who are trying to steal them. The Bishop is also trying to find them all, only she has no idea where the third one is.
Review
On Sunday evening I wanted to do something and relax at the same time. At first, I wanted to finish reading ‘In a Holidaze’ book by Christina Lauren but honestly, I was way too tired to read. And I did not want to fall asleep that early. So instead I decided to watch a movie. Red notice was one of the movies I wanted to see, so I picked this one. This movie has a great cast, so my expectations were very high.
But it did not let me down at all. Wow, this movie was amazing. I mostly watch romantic movies but sometimes I like to watch something else. I only knew Ryan Reynolds from the movie ‘The proposal’ and Dayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson from ‘Jumani’. So I already knew what great actors they are. And they were amazing again in this movie. I mean, the chemistry between the characters was fantastic! Ryan Reynolds was the perfect guy to play this Nolan Booth guy. It just made sense. I loved his jokes. Maybe for some, it was too much, but not for me. Dwayne is great as John Hartley just like Gal Gadot as The Bishop. She was the bad-ass woman in this movie.
And maybe it is because I mostly watch romantic movies but the plot twists in this movie were great. I did not see them coming. Maybe I was blind or just tired or maybe the movie was actually that good, who knows. I just did not question it and enjoyed the movie. For me, that is the most important thing. They make movies for entertainment and as long I did not get bored, it is good.
Although I have to admit that the island with the waterfall scene looked a bit fake. It really looked like it was filmed in a studio. That was one thing I noticed I did not like. But the rest of the movie was good enough for me and it did not bother me too much.
There are more cool things about this movie. First of all, Ed Sheeran makes an appearance. He is a bit aggressive, I have to admit. But that is exactly what I meant with the plot twists, I did not see that coming. I would have never guessed Ed Sheeran would suddenly pop up in this movie. I never research the movie but I don’t want to find spoilers. Another cool thing is that when Hartley arrives at Sotto’s party, he hands security his invitation with a QR code. If you pause the movie and scan the QR code with your phone, it will give you a video with the bloopers. How cool is that? It is a sort of easter egg in a movie. Love when they do something different or extra.
Also when you decide to wait for the credits (I did not do that the first time, you hear Gal saying: Don’t miss me too much Ta Ta. That is another easter egg, right? Does that mean there will be a Red Notice movie part 2? I hope so and I hope all three characters will be back soon because I loved them in this movie. And of course, it takes place in Paris at the Louvre, because that was the last scene. Are they going to steal the Mona Lisa? I read that the makers of this movie are working on three new movies, so it is very likely that there will be a second movie and I am so ready for it.
To summarize, I enjoyed this movie a lot. It is a 2-hour long movie but it did not feel that long. It has a lot of (stupid) jokes and it made me laugh. I also liked the chemistry between the characters. Always important when you have to work together. I loved the plot twists and I think it is definitely worth watching it. This was a very entertaining movie. But I hope the visuals will be a little bit better than in this movie since some parts looked a bit fake.
