Nora goes off script

Nora is a screenwriter and she wrote a movie about her relationship with Ben, who left her out of nowhere. The guy who plays Ben in the movie is Leo Vance and he is an extremely famous and handsome actor. The director thought it would be a great idea to film a couple of scenes at Nora’s house. Leo stays at her house and every day she finds him on the porch watching the sunrise. Then Leo needs a break from everything and he decided that Nora’s place is the best place to stay. He offers her a lot of money to stay, and Nora accepts.  They spend more time together and she starts to fall in love. Now her heart is at risk of being broken again.

Review

This book is recommended for the fans of Emily Henry and I can definitely see why. It has the same vibe to it. If you have been following me for a while now and you read my blog posts, you will also know that I have mixed feelings about Emily Henry’s books. There is one book that I really liked and that was ‘You and me on vacation‘. That book was really beautiful and cute.

I also have mixed feelings about this book, but overall I think it was for me just an okay book. Sometimes you read a book and you have this feeling it lacks something and you have no idea what? That is the kind of feeling I have with this book. Or maybe it isn’t lacking something, but it is just that I did not like it. You simply can’t like every book. It is too early to say anything about the writer because I haven’t read anything else. At first, I thought Emily Henry wasn’t for me. Everyone was talking about her books and I bought three of them. The first two books were okay, but not spectacular in my opinion, but the third one was a great book. I guess I have to read more books by Annabel before I can say that I just don’t like her books.

One of the things I liked was Leo’s character. He was the opposite of Nora’s ex-husband Ben. Ben wouldn’t help her and she had to do everything by herself. Leo wanted to help her. So he was very likeable. I think you could say he broke my heart too when he said he would come back, but he didn’t. I was expecting more from him. Just like Nora, I had the feeling there was something more to it, but I had no idea what. So when the truth came out, I was shocked. I did not expect that. Great plot twist!

Most of the characters were likeable except for Ben of course. I am happy he never came back to Nora and their kids. It really showed what a loser he was. Nora definitely deserved better than that.

Now that I am really analyzing this book, I realized I liked it better than I thought. Maybe it was just my reading slump and my high expectations. Last year, I read so many good books and this year did not start great. I constantly picked the wrong books. But this book might be the best one of the books I’ve read in January. I am giving an extra bonus point for that. But I really hope I will pick the right books for me again. I have a very long wishlist, I bet there is at least book on it that will be my cup of tea.
