Sunday evening. That moment when you realize you have to go back to work the next day and that you wished your weekend was a little bit longer. A new week full of challenges, setbacks and annoying colleagues. How to enjoy your Sunday evening if you are already thinking about the next workweek?
Treat yourself
I think you should treat yourself every single day. And by that, I don’t mean you should eat pizza every day. You can treat yourself with something else too. Or you can watch one or two episodes of your favourite series. You can go have a glass of wine if you drink alcohol or a cup of tea. There are so many ways to make your day a little bit extra special.
My favourite ways to treat myself:
– Read a romantic book
– Meditation
– Eat a piece of dark chocolate
– Cup of tea
– Write
Make plans for the week
Your Sunday evening can feel like the last moment of freedom for the next few days. But it shouldn’t be that way. You should have fun every single day! And most people work from 9-5, so plan something with your friends after work or do something alone. I like to go to the cinema alone. It feels weird the first time, but more people are going to the cinema’s alone. You can’t talk during the movie and to be honest, nobody really cares if you are alone. If you prefer to hang out with friends, have a weekly dinner together. Or organise a game night. You are probably not the only one who wants to have more fun during the workweek.
Enjoy and live in the moment
When it is Sunday evening and you are thinking of Monday, you are definitely not living in the moment. And NOW is all you have. Stop thinking about Monday and start living now. Focus on the things that you are doing now. Give your 100% attention to the show that you are watching or the glass of wine you are drinking. How does your glass of wine taste? A great way to live in the moments is to use your senses; what do you see right now? What can you smell? What do you feel? It is a great exercise to become aware of the now.
