It is almost Valentine’s day and on Valentine’s day, we celebrate love with our partner. But I think it is just as important to love yourself. But what if you look in the mirror every single day and hate what you see? It is so important to love yourself. You have to live with yourself and you don’t want to live with someone you hate right? But how do you learn to love yourself? I give you 5 tips on how to learn to love yourself.

5 tips on how to learn to love yourself

Don’t be too hard on yourself

Are you that kind of person who tells everyone that they shouldn’t be so hard on themselves but at the same time you are hard on yourself? Take your own advice and be a little bit nicer to yourself. It is okay if you fail. It is a part of life and if you fail, you can learn from it. You don’t have to get straight A’s for every test and you don’t have to be perfect. Nobody is perfect. Just accept yourself just the way you are.

Listen to yourself and your intuition

Sit down for a second. Your body and your intuition are very powerful so listen to what it is trying to tell you. Maybe your body tells you to take a nap or maybe you are just hungry. Your body knows what you need right now so listen to it. Your intuition is also very powerful because if something feels bad, you should avoid it. If you learn to listen to your body, you will feel better, and that when you start to love your body and yourself.

Use affirmations

Affirmations are so powerful. Maybe someone told you many years ago that you were ugly every single day. At first, you didn’t believe it. But after a while, you started to believe it. That means you can also start to love yourself by using affirmations. Use positive affirmations every single morning and evening and you will notice a difference really soon. There are many videos on Youtube with affirmations.

– I am beautiful
– I deserve to be loved
– I am awesome
– I am bad-ass
– I am confident

Take time for yourself

Every now and then you should take time for yourself. Especially when you are not feeling great. And taking time for yourself doesn’t mean you have to take a hot bath and use a face mask. Taking time for yourself means you listen to your body and gives it what it needs and wants. Maybe you just want to read a book or just go out for a walk. Or maybe you want to binge-watch your favorite series on Netflix.

Celebrate your succeses

And this doesn’t mean you have to earn 10K on one day before you can celebrate it with a huge party. When you have social anxiety, you can celebrate when you got out of the house. And you can celebrate that with a snack or a (single) dance party. Celebrate your successes, even when other people think it is no big deal that you got out of bed today. Just celebrate life and be proud of yourself.
