It is Tuesday again and you know what that means! It is time to share another movie recommendation with you. This time my recommendation to watch is ‘Do revenge’ starring Camila Mendes and Maya Hawke on Netflix. These are my reasons why you should watch Do revenge
About Do Revenge
Drea’s sex tape to Max has leaked to the whole school and now everything is weird at school. Eleanor is a new transfer student with her problems. When Eleanor was younger she had a crush on another girl and that girl outed her and made up a rumour that destroyed her life. Together they decide to get revenge. Drea is going after Carissa to help Eleanor and Eleanor is going after Max.
Reasons to watch Do revenge
Clueless & mean girls vibes
The outfits, the mean girls in high school and boys. It was just like Clueless and Mean Girls movies. They were definitely not trying to copy those incredible movies. But you could tell they got the inspiration from those two movies. The outfits were iconic! And just like in Mean Girls, they tried to bully the others in a very sneaky way without getting caught. But eventually, they care more about themselves and forget why they were doing it. But I have to add that Clueless and Mean Girls are still better movies than this one.
Just like the ’90s / early 00’s movies
If you have a Netflix subscription, you might know that movies these days are nothing like the movies from the early 2000s. The movies from those were iconic. So iconic that people are still talking about those movies twenties years later. Everything about those movies was just perfect and fun to watch. They don’t make movies like that anymore. I realized that the other, but I also have to say that Netflix is doing a great job right now with better movies. I really liked the movie ‘Look both ways‘ and this movie was not bad at all either. It came pretty close to those iconic movies. Maybe in twenty years, we are talking about these movies. I can definitely see that happening.
Plot twist
And while this movie was pretty similar to the early 2000s movies, there was one difference and that was the plot twist. I definitely did not see that coming. But it was a very nice plot twist and normally you don’t expect it in movies like these. So it really came as a pleasant surprise. It was just genius. I don’t want to spoil anything and ruin the whole movie for you if you still have to watch it. So I would just recommend watching it and seeing it for yourself.
Great acting
This movie has a lot of Netflix stars I recognized from other films and series. You have Camila Mendes from Riverdale, Maya Hawke from Stranger Things and Alisha Boe from 13 reasons why. But they were all great! No cringe-acting. They were pretty great! The only thing that bothers me all the time is that the teenagers in movies like this one are always 20+ years in real life. Camilla is 28, Alisha is 25 and Maya is 24 and they have to play teenagers.
