Read more books with these 3 tips.

If you follow me on Instagram, you will know that I read a lot and this year I want to read 100 books, which is a huge goal. Normally I would read like 20 or 30 books in one year. That is a big difference. How I am going to do that? Easy! I just read more instead of doing something else. Two weeks ago I changed my daily routine, so I have more time to read. But in this blog post, I will give you my top 3 tips if you want to read more books.

This is how you read more books

Of course, there are a lot more things you can do if you want to read more books but these tips are my favorite. And if you have no idea what book you want to read, check all of my book reviews.

Bring a book everywhere you go

This sounds so simple, but it is a great tip. Okay, maybe at this moment a lot of people are working and studying from home. But when we are going back to our workplaces and schools, we probably have to travel more. Some of you travel by bus or train. I did the same when I was at university. I had to travel for one hour every single day and it got really boring when I had nothing to do. But one day I decided to bring a book with me and that changed everything. I was reading a lot more and I wasn’t bored anymore. So it is definitely a win-win situation.

And by bringing a book everywhere you go, I also mean bringing a book to the kitchen while you are cooking dinner. If you like to listen to audiobooks, you just can listen to books while you are cooking. Or maybe you can bring you audiobooks with you when you go out for a walk.

Read a book instead of watching Netflix

If you have Netflix and you love to watch series and films every single day, make the decision to watch less Netflix. One episode of a Netflix series is 45 to 60 minutes long. And we all know that we just don’t watch one episode of a series, we prefer to binge-watch everything. But just know how many books you can read if you would replace Netflix with books. I didn’t give up Netflix completely. Every now and then I watch one episode (yes, just one) and on Friday evening I have my movie night.

Read 1 or 2 hours before you go to bed

Every night I come home from work at 7:30 PM and I go to bed between 10-11 PM. That means I have 2-3 hours for myself every evening. Of course, you can watch tv/Netflix or do something else, but you can also read. I am reading 1 or 2 hours before I go to bed every single night and it is amazing. First of all, I read a lot more books. I can read 50-100 per hour, which means I can read 100-200 pages every night. So basically I can finish one book every two or three days. And that is a great way to read a lot of books in one year.

Another great of side effect of reading before bed is you will feel more relaxed and fall asleep fast. Normally I would watch Netflix or look at my phone before going to bed and it took me 2 hours to fall asleep because of the blue screen. But that is now history because I read and fall asleep fast.
