How to feel more energetic
Feeling sluggish or low on energy during the day can make it difficult to get things done and enjoy life to the fullest. If you’re tired of feeling tired, there are plenty of simple and effective ways to boost your energy levels and feel more alert and focused. In this blog post, I’ll explain the best ways for feeling more energetic throughout the day.

I’ve had a period of time when I was feeling very tired all the time. I had a burnout. While that whole experience was awful, I also learned a lot of things. I have to prioritize myself and listen to what I really need at that moment.

How to feel more energetic

  1. Get enough sleep. One of the most important things you can do for your energy levels is to get enough sleep. Most adults need between 7-9 hours of sleep each night, so aim to prioritize your sleep schedule and create a consistent bedtime routine. Try to avoid screens for at least an hour before bed, and create a relaxing environment that promotes restful sleep. You can read a book before going to bed instead of watching Netflix. This will increase the quality of your sleep. Besides the quantity of sleep, the quality of your sleep is also very important.

  2. Stay hydrated. Dehydration can cause fatigue and low energy levels, so make sure you’re drinking enough water throughout the day. Aim for at least 8 glasses of water each day, and consider adding electrolyte-rich drinks like coconut water or sports drinks if you’re engaging in high-intensity activities. But most of the time and for most of us, just plain water is good enough. Bring a water bottle everywhere.

  3. Eat a balanced diet. Eating a balanced diet that includes plenty of whole foods like fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins can help you maintain stable energy levels throughout the day. Avoid sugary or processed foods that can cause spikes and crashes in your blood sugar levels, and aim for meals that provide sustained energy and nourishment. You might be craving Junk food right now, but it is really best for your health to eat fruit instead.

  4. Move your body. Regular exercise can help you feel more energetic and alert by increasing blood flow, oxygenation, and endorphins in your body. Even small amounts of physical activity throughout the day can help, so try taking a brisk walk on your lunch break or doing some light stretching in between tasks. I like to put on my headphones and move my body in the morning. I clean the kitchen while listening to music.  Then right after lunch, I get up and move my body again. This way I have more energy during the whole day.

  5. Practice stress reduction techniques. Chronic stress can drain your energy levels and lead to burnout, so it’s important to prioritize stress reduction techniques like meditation, deep breathing, or yoga. These practices can help you stay calm and centred throughout the day, even during challenging or busy times. Or maybe buy a journal and start journaling. You can write down all of your thoughts and feelings. This helps to put everything in perspective.

  6. Take breaks. Finally, remember to take regular breaks throughout the day to recharge your batteries and avoid burnout. Whether it’s a quick stretch, a walk outside, or a few minutes of mindfulness meditation, taking breaks can help you feel more energized and focused when you return to your work or activities. Even when it is just for 5 minutes.

By incorporating these simple strategies into your daily routine, you can boost your energy levels, feel more alert and focused, and enjoy greater productivity and well-being. With a little bit of self-care and attention, you can feel more energetic and vibrant throughout the day.
