Barbie

Barbie is perfect and she can do whatever she wants and Ken? He is just Ken. Then Barbie suddenly has flat feet and cellulitis. She asks weird Barbie for advice and in order to be perfect again, she has to go to the Real World, to find out who is causing this and restore it. But that is not as easy as she thought it was going to be.

Review

I was really looking forward to watching this movie when I saw the first photos of the movie. I knew I had to watch it at the cinema and to be honest, I haven’t been to the cinema in a very long time. But Barbie convinced me to go.

First of all, I think it is incredible how good their marketing is. Like everywhere you go, you see Barbie. And not just in stores. A lot of people were dressed up to see this movie at the cinema. A lot of girls and women were wearing pink dresses and I thought that was so cool. And in case you are wondering, I was wearing all black. So you can basically say that I was depressed Barbie. But it was not easy to find tickets for Barbie. It was constantly sold out.

The movie was great. Margot Robbie was the perfect actress to play the role of Barbie. I am not sure if anyone else could have done it better than she did. Ken, well is just Ken. No, I liked Ryan Gosling as Ken, but I was expecting someone younger. Then again, I think he played his role pretty well. I also like the actor who played Alan. He was kind of funny.

The thing I liked the most about this movie was definitely the decor/the set. I think it was incredible how plastic and fantastic it looked. It really looked like a Barbie house. It looked so pretty and pink, but I am still amazed at how good BarbieWorld looked. The outfits and the car she was driving were just perfect. It brought back a lot of great memories. That world was just pure nostalgia and I loved it. My kid’s dream has come true.

The story wasn’t maybe the strongest story ever, but honestly, I did not really care about it. Yes, I have seen movies with a better storyline. But this is a Barbie movie and I already had the feeling that this was mostly going to be a fun movie, not much the best movie ever. Although, the movie has a great message. Like you are good enough. Nobody is perfect and it is about feminism. It is about how everyone is judging other women for the things they do and don’t do. It is never good enough. That part was so strong and it made me kind of emotional. That speech by America Ferrera was incredible.

Yes, this is a must-see. This is just a great movie to watch. I really enjoyed watching it. I don’t think this movie was overhyped at all. It is definitely worth the hype. Even though it does not have the strongest storyline, it has beautiful decor, outfits, nostalgia, and a beautiful message.
