About The Perfect date

Brooks Rattigan wants to go to Yale, but he needs money for it. And he also needs an outstanding extracurricular. So together with his best friend, he creates an app where anyone can pay him to play the perfect stand-in boyfriend for any occasion. At the same time, he is also trying to impress Celia, because he has a crush on her.

Review

Another movie starring Noah Centineo on Netflix. Is Noah maybe Netflix’s favourite actor? I think he is. But do we care? No, not really. Noah is an attractive guy. So I don’t mind watching another Noah movie. In this high school movie, Noah plays the 18-year-old Brooks Rattigan and is trying to get money for Yale. He really wants to go to Yale. But he has no idea what he wants to study? I mean, that is the first step, right? You pick a major first and then you decide which university you like the most. I never got the obsession for Yale or Harvard. They are just universities, right? But what do I know? I live in the Netherlands and every university is pretty good here. It doesn’t matter which university you go to.

Anyway, this movie is very predictable, but every teen/romance is predictable. I kind of liked the relationship between Brooks and Celia, but just as friends. I saw no chemistry between them and I remember that Noah had a way better chemistry with Lana Condor in To all the boys I’ve loved before.
And there were some fun parts (Brooks going on different kinds of dates), but overall the movie was just average. It was not super romantic, it was not super funny, just boring. Not something I want to watch again.

Awkward moment: When Celia’s Father meets Brooks for the first time and lets him enter their house, he closes the door laughing but you can see clearly that he isn’t laughing but keeps his mouth closed.
