About Hopeless

Sky looks like a normal teenager who lives together with the woman who adopted her when she was only three years old. So far she always got homeschooled by her mother, but this year she wanted to go to a real school. It is her last year and she has always wanted to experience high school. Her best friend, who lives across the street, is going abroad for a few months. So Sky has to do it alone, but she doesn’t care. On her first day she meets Holder in the supermarket and Holder reacts very strange when he sees her for the first time. Why is he acting so strange? They have never met before. Sky is trying to avoid him, because she also heard that he went to jail.

But is that true? Did he really went to jail? And what is Holder trying to hide for Sky?

I love Colleen Hoover her books. I’ve read three books of her so far right now and she never lets me down. At first the title of this book didn’t make sense. Why would you name the book hopeless? Just because of Holder’s tattoo? Or is the relationship between Sky and Holder hopeless? But at the end of this book you will know what hopeless really means in this book and the title suddenly make sense.

Colleen her books always start very slowly and towards the ending more and more things will happen and you will think: wow what is going on? The same with this book. There was a reason why Holder was acting all strange every now and then, but I had absolutely no idea why. I just thought he was an idiot. But I didn’t expect an ending like this. I mean, Colleen her books are always intense, so maybe I could have expected something like this. But I didn’t. I love Colleen her writing style and how she builds up the tension and this whole story.
Colleen always writes about shocking things, for example about abuse. And yes you will definitely cry when you read her books. But you know what? Life is not always sunshine and rainbows. These things happen in real life too. Colleen isn’t afraid to write about it.

But don’t worry, somehow it also feels like this situation between Holder and Sky was meant to be. At least that is why it felt like. There are a also a few beautiful moments between Holder and Sky. In the beginning I thought Holder was kind of weird and all that. But you will learn why he was acting like that.

Also this first chapter was genius! Because I  thought there was something going on between Holder and Sky and they had a huge fight. But I was so wrong about that.

So overall I really did enjoy reading this book. I love Colleens writing style, she is definitely one of my favourite authors at the moment. And I can’t wait to read the rest of her books too. I just saw there are two other books (Losing Hope and Finding Cinderella) in this series, so I can’t wait to read what will happen between Holder and Sky next.

Have you ever read a book by Colleen Hoover?
