About The Selection
This is the first book in the series. Prince Maxon is single and he needs a wife. America Singer is just a normal girl and she is not single. One problem: he is a six and America is a five (caste system). It is not normal for a woman to marry or to date a guy from a lower caste. Asper (her boyfriend) tells her that she has to sign up for the selection and he also breaks up with her. She deserves better, he says. She is angry and heartbroken, but she signs up and she is one of 35 girls who was also selected. But America is not interested to be the future wife of Maxon, she just want to get away from everyone and especially Aspen. But she and Maxon are becoming good friends during the first part of the selection. Does Maxon have feelings for her?
I am rereading the selection series, so I can write book reviews about them. And I really forgot how much I love this series. It is funny and romantic at the same time.America Singer does not want to be Maxon’s future wife, because she thinks is boring and not her type. And she does not want to sign up for the selection, but she did eventually because of Aspen and her mother. But when she finally meets Maxon, he is so different from what she expected. He is really nice. This shows that you can’t judge people before you even meet them. Also, America does not realize that she likes Maxon more than she thinks. Because she gets jealous if the other girls went on a date with him. When she sees him with someone else she thinks that is she is still nervous about the live shows, but she is just really jealous. And to be honest I don’t like Aspen so much. I feel like he is playing games with America. At first, he says that he loves her, then she has to sign up for the selection and he breaks up with her. And then back the castle he tells her that he was so wrong. Stop playing games, Aspen!!
