About The Rain

The world is coming to an end. Just before an important exam, Lea’s dad take her and her mother and brother with him to a bunker.  Six years after a brutal virus carried by the rain wiped out almost all humans in Denmark, two Danish siblings emerge from the safety of their bunker to find out that almost everyone is dead. Soon they join a group of young survivors and together set out on a trip to the company of Lea’s dad. They discover that even in a post-apocalyptic world there’s still love, jealousy, coming of age, and many of the problems they thought they’d left behind with the disappearance of the world they once knew.

Review

I’ve heard a lot about it, but I never watched the trailer.  So I had absolutely no idea what this series was about. It starts with a scene that Lea is too late at school for something important. Her friends are waiting, but that is the only time you’ll see her friends. You just have to guess that they are also dead. The scene where the mom dies is a bit stupid. Lea’s dad told not to open the bunker and guess what? Lea opened the door. So the mom dies pretty quickly and lea has to take care of het little brother for six whole years.
It reminded me a bit of The walking dead without the zombies; they have to survive and everyone is hungry. There were more survivors (in the city) than I expected. Mostly young adults though, barely any kids or older people/parents. When they meet other survivors, they are trying to find food and Lea/Rasmus’ dad. But not everyone think they can trust him and even Lea isn’t sure. Is the dad still alive? Can they trust him or the company he works for?

I am guessing there will be another season next year. The ending was open and they still want to go to the safe part of the country. I really enjoyed watching this. I bingewatched this is just two night. I like the actors and how they find that the virus was not the end of the world and that there is still love and friendship.
Definitely recommend this show if you are into Sci-Fi.
