The new craft trend: Diamond painting

The last couple of weeks or months I’ve been hearing a lot of people talking about this new craft trend: diamond painting. Last week, I decided to give it a try and to see if it is challenging, cool and relaxing.

Inside the package:
– Stones
– Wax
– Pen
– Canvas

I compare diamond painting by making a puzzle. And it depends on the kit/canvas how hard it is. The bigger your canvas is, the longer it takes. And if your painting has a lot of different colors, it also takes a lot longer. With the pen and the wax you can easily pick up the stones and put them on the right place on your canvas.

I am not 100% sure if it is completely relaxing. Those stones are super tiny and you have to be careful to not to lose them. But when I was diamond painting, the time passed by very quickly. In my opinion, that is a good thing. So yeah, I liked it. But it also depends on the ‘painting’, the next time I definitely need something more challenging than this postcard format. I’ve already found a couple with wolves and unicorns that seemed quite challenging. This postcard format took me around 2 hours to make.

I was happy to see that there were enough stones. You still have to be careful that you don’t lose too many of them. Because you really need them to finish your painting. But this package had enough stones of every colour.
Not sure if I really like the end result. But for the first time, it was okay. It was also a very cheap diamond painting kit. For the price the end result is alright. I bought this in a Dutch store called Wibra and it was only 1.50 euro. I’ve also found bigger ones online and the prices range from 20 – 70 euro each.

Have you ever tried diamond painting?
