So normally, I never really talk about the news on my blog and other social media channels. But today I make an exception. And for one good reason: To save nature and animals in Australia. As you all know about the Australian fires and in this blog post I am going to share how you can help.
PS: I am not a journalist. I did my research, but it is possible I made a mistake writing this blog post. Please contact me if I did.
The Australian Fires
Australia has a yearly bushfire season, but this year (well, 2019) it started earlier and it is more severe. Severe and long term drought and high temperatures are the biggest causes of these extreme bushfires. With temperatures between 40 and 50 degrees Celcius and the weather conditions (no rain and wind) makes it harder to control the fires.
So far the facts are terrible:
– Around 500 million (!!) animals killed in wildfires
– 23 deaths
– More than 1500 homes lost
How can YOU help?
If you don’t live in Australia and you still want to help them, there are several ways to help them. And I think it is already great that a lot of celebrities are donating a lot of money, but even just a couple of dollars/euros/pounds can help. And you can pick your own organisation. If you want to help the Fire brigades, donate money to them. If you want to help the animals, donate money to save the animals.
When you donate your money to The New South Wales Rural Fire service, you are helping the local fire brigades. And since those people are working non-stop to end these wildfires, they really need the money. Without them, it could have been a lot worse.
You can also donate your money to the Australian Red Cross and Salvation Army. They help people who lost their houses or have to evacuate. They help them with providing them with a place to stay and first needs.
Not just people lost their houses, also a lot of animals had to run for their lives. They have no place to stay and that is you can donate your money to organisations like WIRES or WWF Australia. WIRES rescues the animals and are taking care of them but obviously that cost money. WWF Australia is raising money so that they can restore forests as soon the fires have cleared. So the animals have a home again.
And of course, we can all pray for a lot of rain.
Are you going to donate your money to one of these organisations?
