About a girl

The main character Tess got fired and her world collapses, because work is her life. She has no life besides working non-stop. She stays in her bed for about a week, got in a fight with Charlie (her best friend), her family (especially her mother) and her roommate Vanessa. One day Tess picks up the phone and the woman on the other side of the line thinks that she is Vanessa. She gets the chance to go to Hawaii for a photo shoot. Tess accepts this job, but everyone thinks that she is Vanessa.

She meets Nick on Hawaii, he is a writer/journalist. He will write the interview for this magazine Gloss. But there is a sort of chemistry between Nick and Tess and it makes it hard for Tess to focus on why she is there. And besides, Nick says that he is not boyfriend material.

Review

I needed to read some chick lit books the last couple of weeks and this was one of them. I think I bought this at a book event here in the Netherlands and to be honest I had never heard of Lindsey Kelk before, but the story sounded good enough for me. And I remember that I bought a lot of romance books on that day and a lot of them were from unknown authors.

Anyway, I kind of liked this story. Tess used to be a workaholic and then she got fired. It is kind of a predictable story, but also not too predictable. I had no idea where this story was going to until I was 3/4 in.
Tess realizes that her old working life was pretty boring and the fact she has been chasing this same guy for 10 years wasn’t helping either. She was waiting for him this whole time. But on Hawaii, she starts thinking about her life and who she really is. During this week on Hawaii she is trying to find out who she really is and what she wants.

Also, Tess was very stupid to think that Charlie was also into her. I mean they have been friends for forever and there were no signs that he liked her too in that way.
But I was kind of missing a chapter at the end. I wanted to know how she says sorry to her mother, how she tells the truth to Charlie and of course how it ends with Nick. Will they be a couple?

But I guess I have to read the other two books in this series. I hope those books will give me the answers I need. Definitely going to add those two books to my TBR list.
