A while ago I wrote about ‘Niksen’ and I also mentioned hygge. Hygge comes from Denmark and it is a different, but an interesting lifestyle. Would I prefer this lifestyle or not?
What hygge [Hoo ga] mean? 1. The art of building sanctuary and community. of inviting closeness and paying attention to what makes feel open hearted and alive. 2. To create well-being, connection and warmth. 3. A feeling of belonging to the moment and to each other. 4. Celebrating the everyday
What is it?
For niksen you did not need anything. You could just stare out the windown. For Hygge it is different: you need things for it. But things that can make you happy, which is good.
If you want a treat, eat a treat. Bake a delicious cake and eat it in front of your fireplace, while you are sitting under a blanket in your chair. It is about reading books, candles, nature, animals and crafting. And finally you can also write a book or in your journal, to reflect your day
As you can see it is all about the basics. I honestly I think this is perfect for me, because I love all of things I mentioned above. It sounds so cozy, I love that simple lifestyle and I love being creative
Winter is the most hygge time of year. It is candles, nubby woolens, shearling slippers, woven textiles, pastries, blond wood, sheepskin rugs, lattes with milk-foam hearts, and a warm fireplace.
